This is why we so desperately need a public option at the very least and, ideally, a shift to single-payer insurance. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that our institutions ARE adapting. Our nearly laissez-faire capitalist system allows employers to get away with everything but murder, and employees have little recourse because we're so dependent on our jobs. It's somewhat like a feudal society with the illusion of freedom. Reforming the employer-based health care system would be a great start to changing this. Excellent article!
